The 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to Canadian poet, essayist, translator and classicist Anne Carson “for her bold and inventive oeuvre that, in playful dialogue with the classical tradition, has created new forms for contemporary literature.”
Carson brings poetry, essays, translation and drama together, returning ancient stories to contemporary speech. Her best-known books include Autobiography of Red and Eros the Bittersweet; her writing explores love, desire, loss, memory and the boundary between personal experience and myth.
